Blog #1
7/3/25
Hello everyone!
This is my official BLOG post. This is the first time I’ve ever tried to write a blog, so please bear with me as we begin this journey together! After some hefty introspection, I decided to start this blog by introducing you, my audience, to my brand!
It wasn’t all that long ago that I didn’t even know what a brand was. I had to look it up. It turns out that a brand is how you see me. For example, if I said Stephen King, you would instantly think the best-selling horror author. If I mentioned Stephen Hawking, you would immediately picture the disabled genius sitting in his electric wheelchair. If I mentioned William Shatner, you would think of Capt. James T. Kirk. A brand is what we can come to be known by, whether it’s by our actions, reputations, careers, or family members. Many things can lead to your brand. Whether you’re famous, infamous, or just a plain old person… you can have a brand or be branded.
So, how do I want you to brand me? How do I want you to react, or think, or feel when you hear or read my name? Are you curious about what my name is, or do you even care? I think it’s part of my job as the creator of this blog to make you want to know my name. I’m very proud of it! My cousin, Jeremy, suggested that I use D.E. Ramey as my pen name, the name you all see on my book covers and the internet. My full name is David Eugene Ramey. Most of my friends and family call me Dave, or David Eugene, or just Eugene. My wife generally always calls me David.
My two favorite names are Dad and Papaw!
Well, now that you know my name, I hope I piqued your interest just a little bit more. Maybe even a small teaser into my private life there. I think I’ll keep that bit of family info for later. I want to add something else to my brand marquee before I proceed.
When I was a much younger man, it could be said that I wasn’t a very good guy. I accept that. My life could have been read like a chapter book. Many decades later, when looking back on those chapters, I can clearly see where I made mistakes and then learned from them. I can see my character being built from a wild hooligan, to a veteran, to a husband, then a father, then a grandfather, and now in this newest chapter, I’m a published author. In regard to my brand, does all of that back story mean I’m a perfect man? Of course not. Not even close! I have tons of regrets that I would love to apologize for.
One thing I didn’t mention that I learned about on my journey, and this one is the most important thing of all. This facet of me is the one I want to be branded for. In time, when someone mentions D.E. Ramey or reads my name or looks for one of my books online or on the shelves at Barnes & Noble, this is how I want to be thought of…
“Hey! D.E. Ramey is that Christian guy who writes those wild Apocalyptic Christian Fiction books!”
Pretty cool, huh?
Being known or branded like that is pretty sweet! I wanted to write stories since I was in the 5th grade. So it’s great that I’m an author now. Honestly, though, that little part about being a Christian… THAT is the important part. THAT is how I want to be branded.
There it is, the core of my brand. I’m a man of many mistakes, but I found redemption in my faith. I won’t push my faith on you, although I may mention it from time to time. I want you to feel welcome on my website and other social media platforms, knowing it is a Christ-centered space. You don’t have to be a Christian to feel welcome here or around my brand. You can be whatever you want to be; you won’t find judgment here.
I think that’s about enough for my first Blog. I had a good time writing this up. I had no idea what I was going to say when I sat down to write today. HA! Cool stuff!! We aim to publish one blog post per week and send out our newsletter once a month. Please feel free to email me with questions or comments, and I’ll do my best to get back to you asap. So please, everyone have a safe and blessed week! I look forward to your emails! And if you don’t have a blessed week, please try not to get yourselves killed while someone is holding your beer!!
God bless!
Dave
